Beet Root Powder ¼ cup
Since the 16th Century, Beet Roots have been cultivated for a variety of culinary uses. Beet Root Powder is a good source of minerals, particularly easy-to-assimilate iron. It is helpful in the digestion of fats, gallbladder concerns, digestive problems and iron deficiency. Beet Root Powder may also provide nutritional support for normal liver function. Beet Root (Beta Vulgaris) is rich in iron, potassium, magnesium, soluble and insoluble fiber. Beet Root has been used traditionally to nutritionally support healthy digestion, healthy liver and spleen function and healthy blood sugar levels.
APPEARANCE
Beta vulgaris, commonly known as beet, is a flowering plant valued around the world as an edible root vegetable. The leaves are typically triangular in shape, long, and broad at the base. Leaf color ranges from deep greenish-red to light green. Flowers appear on spikes and may be greenish or reddish in color.
HISTORY
Beta vulgaris has long been regarded as a therapeutic plant. Although cultivated Beet leaves were widely consumed as a green vegetable in Roman times, the roots were mainly taken as a tonic. Dioscorides (in De Materia Medica) and Galen, for example, both refer to the Beet Root as a therapeutic agent. In medieval England, Beet Root juice was recommended as an easily digested food for the aged, weak or infirm. Beetroot is a rich source of carbohydrates, a good source of protein, and has high levels of important vitamins, minerals and micronutrients.
