Stomach acid or Hydrochloric Acid (HCL), is a powerful digestive agent. A healthy stomach contains HCL in an adequate concentration to maintain a pH between 1 and 2. Low levels of HCL can lead to improperly, incompletely, or poorly digest food fragments that may cause an imbalance in the growth of normal bacterial flora in the intestines. With age, stomach acid secretion tends to decrease. Result: low stomach acid, poor digestion, mineral deficiency, and disease, in that order. What to do? Most manufacturers pack their products only once every year or two in order to reduce setup cost on production lines and reduce the purchase price of the raw material by buying a large quantity. We however get a fresh batch of products every 4 months that we immediately pack. This ensures higher potency of our supplements because of fresher raw materials and less exposure to oxygen. As you may know oxygen is the primary factor for loss of potency in powdered herbs, vitamins and tinctures.
