Essiak Tea is a blend of Burdock Root, Rhubarb Root, Sheep Sorrel, and Slippery Elm Bark. The original recipe was developed by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse in the 1920s, and modeled after a traditional Ojibwa tribe remedy. Essiak Tea is an immunity booster that promotes full-body healing and detoxification.*
The four herbs in Essiak Tea work synergistically to detoxify the body, remove heavy metals, and restore the immune system, allowing the body to defend itself against illness and disease using its own resources.*
According to Rene Caisse, Sheep Sorrel is the most active herb in Essiak Tea because it stimulates cellular regeneration and for its cleansing and detoxifying properties. The remaining herbs, however, are a potent triad. Burdock Root is thought to improve overall health by enhancing the organs that purify the blood and remove toxins and waste (kidneys, liver, and colon). The tannins in Rhubarb Root are useful in treating intestinal problems. Slippery Elm Bark is rich in mucilage, which swells in the body and becomes slippery as it passes through the digestive tract. This indigestible substance enhances digestion, absorbs toxins, softens waste, and promotes the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria.*

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is this product different from Essiac Tea?
A: The herbal tea famously made by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse, is a combination of burdock root, slippery elm, sheep sorrel, and rhubarb. Although our Essiak Tea is a similar formula, Essiac (Caisse spelled backwards) is a branded name, so we couldn't call our tea by the same name. So we simply modified the spelling.
