This is what depression looks like

  • Depression and it’s a mental illness that can be tremendously debilitating. The signs and symptoms of depression may vary from person to person, making it challenging to diagnose accurately. Some individuals may experience severe episodes lasting for weeks or months, while others may have mild but persistent symptoms for years. Here are some commonly experienced symptoms of depression:

    • Persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
    • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
    • Fatigue or lack of energy, even with adequate rest
    • Changes in appetite or weight, either increase or decrease
    • Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering details
    • Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or oversleeping
    • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt, or self-blame
    • Physical symptoms like headaches, stomachaches, or other unexplained aches and pains
    • Thoughts of death, self-harm, or suicide

It is important to recognize that not everyone with depression will experience all these symptoms. The intensity, frequency, and duration of symptoms can vary widely, highlighting the importance of a comprehensive evaluation by a healthcare professional. If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, reaching out for help can be the first step toward recovery.

  • Depression is very serious. I was depressed myself, but they say that it helps to switch to some other topic and plunge into it. And it really helped me. I found myself in trading!

  • I was in the same boat

  • Totally get your curiosity—I used to feel the same way until I dove deeper last year. The "fair trade" label isn’t just for show. It usually means the farmers got a guaranteed minimum price, plus a premium that often goes into community development or environmental projects. Organic certification, meanwhile, ensures the beans are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, which is better for soil and water systems—and probably your body too.

Personally, I've noticed a smoother, richer taste with some of the fair trade, single origin coffee I've tried. For example, this Single origin coffee from Peru is one I recently bought—it’s medium roast, certified organic, and has these surprisingly clean flavor notes like chocolate and black tea. What stood out to me wasn’t just the taste, but knowing that it came from a micro-lot farm at high altitude. It adds this extra layer of depth to the whole coffee experience. I feel like you can taste the care that went into every step of the process, from bean to bag.
