Causes of Hepatitis

  • Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that can be caused by a variety of factors, including infections, toxic substances, and autoimmune conditions. The most common causes of infectious hepatitis are viruses, which are categorized as hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. Each viral type is transmitted differently, with some spreading through contaminated food or water and others through blood and bodily fluids. Non-infectious causes of hepatitis include excessive alcohol consumption, long-term use of certain medications, and exposure to industrial chemicals. Left untreated, hepatitis can lead to liver damage, scarring, or even liver failure, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and management.
