Introducing Petra Sovcov, DNM, CHT: A New Chapter in the Legacy of Dr. Hulda Clark

We are honored to introduce Petra Sovcov, Clinical Herbal Therapist who holds a Doctorate in Natural Medicine as the newest Dr. Hulda Clark Preferred Practitioner. A lifelong student of herbal medicine and a passionate advocate for root-cause wellness, Petra joins this esteemed circle of practitioners with deep clinical insight, a dedication to research, and an unwavering commitment to personalized wellness. Like Dr. Hulda Clark, she is not only an herbal clinician but a researcher, teacher, and modern steward of botanical medicine.

Originally born in the United States, Petra now practices in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, where she runs a natural wellness practice and herbal apothecary. Her work is centered around inflammatory illness—particularly autoimmune disease, cancer, and other chronic disorders—and her apothecary holds hundreds of herbal allies at her fingertips. These plants are the foundation of her work, carefully selected for their phyto-chemical and traditional profiles, and crafted into individualized formulations for each client. Like many who seek Dr. Clark’s teachings, Petra also has an individual story with inflammatory illness, as do many of her immediate family members who actively used Dr Clark’s teachings at various times in their lives for complex issues.

Petra’s practice mirrors Dr. Clark’s in many ways: from her commitment to personalized care and rigorous investigation to her insistence that healing must begin with identifying the true origins of disease (to the extent one is able). She continues the tradition of deep inquiry into how herbs interact with the immune system, DNA repair, detoxification, and microbiome health. For Petra, herbalism is both a science and an art—one that is continually evolving as new research emerges about the roles plants play in the body’s ability to heal itself.

The 9 Pillars of Inflammatory Illness

In her work and research, Petra uses a model she calls the "9 Pillars of Inflammatory Illness". This framework is based on years of practice, clinical outcomes, and research in chronic disease. It offers a way of understanding why inflammation may persist in the body, and what may be address.

  1. Parasites and Candida
Undetected parasites and candida overgrowth can disrupt gut health and immune balance, producing toxic metabolites that inflame the body and interfere with nutrient absorption and detoxification.
  2. Unresolved Chronic Stress and Trauma
Long-term emotional stress keeps the nervous system in a state of hypervigilance. This sympathetic dominance triggers cortisol dysregulation and systemic inflammation, which over time can contribute to immune dysregulation and cellular breakdown.
  3. Chronic or Pre-Clinical Infections
Viral, bacterial, or stealth infections often remain undiagnosed. They persist quietly, hijacking immune resources and causing inflammatory signaling that can lead to autoimmunity or chronic fatigue.
  4. Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals
Chemicals like phthalates, BPA, and synthetic fragrances interfere with hormonal pathways or mimic our natural hormones (such as seen in the current theory of xenoestrogens and estrogen dominant cancers). These disruptions affect everything from metabolic functions and mood to immune reactivity, compounding the body’s inflammatory burden.
  5. Heavy Metals
Metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic, aluminum, and others, accumulate in tissues over time. These substances impair mitochondrial function, damage neurons, and block detox pathways, potentially leading to chronic inflammation and oxidative stress.
  6. Enzymatic DNA Repair Deficiencies
When DNA repair enzymes are under-functioning—whether due to genetics, toxins, or nutrient deficiencies—cells cannot properly recover from damage. This can result in uncontrolled inflammation and increased cancer risk.
  7. Chronic Sensitivities
Food and chemical sensitivities quietly stimulate the immune system each time exposure occurs. Over time, this leads to chronic inflammation and immune hyper-reactivity, a hallmark of autoimmune illness.
  8. Leaky Gut Syndrome
When the intestinal lining becomes permeable, toxins, microbes, and food particles pass into the bloodstream, triggering a full-body immune reaction and contributing to systemic inflammation and allergic responses.
  9. Nutritional Deficiencies
Inadequate levels of key vitamins, minerals, and cofactors impair everything from detoxification to immune regulation. Without these building blocks, the body struggles to resolve inflammation or rebuild damaged tissues.

Personalized Care Rooted in Nature

In Petra’s wellness center, each client is seen as a unique individual, not a diagnosis. She does not work with generic or umbrella protocols when it comes to herbal support. Instead, she creates individualized plans, tailoring herbal, nutritional, and lifestyle strategies to meet the needs of the person sitting in front of her. Whether someone is seeking immune support, detoxification support, hormonal balancing, or cancer adjunctive care, Petra’s work is always rooted in deep listening, methodical investigation, and plant-based therapeutics.

Through her growing body of research and experience, Petra Sovcov is continuing the legacy of Dr. Hulda Clark—not by copying her, but by evolving the principles of bio-individual healing in a modern context. As a Dr. Clark Preferred Practitioner, Petra brings compassion, science, tradition, and herbal intelligence to the forefront of natural medicine.

Sounds like a real alignment and congruency with what Dr. Clark laid out for us all! And she is in BC too! I’m next door in AB!

As a previous patient of Dr. Clark’s teachings, I am eternally grateful for all of her research and protocols . I am humbled and honoured to now work with those who seek to carry the torch of research and investigation into options for natural support and therapeutics.
