Dental Bleach, 8 fl oz
- Effective sterilizer for dentures*
- Good for occasional denture cleaning*
- Recommended for oral surgery*
This recipe is easier to make than ever before. This is because NSF bleach is now available in 5-6% strength like regular bleach (find the varieties listed under Sources in Dr. Clark's books). This is for use during dental work and for occasional denture cleaning. Do not use this product as a regular mouthwash or as a daily denture soak. You would get too much chlorine.
The chemical name for bleach is hypochlorite. There are different grades. The grade used only for laundry is not acceptable. Bleach is very caustic. It must be diluted before you can use it without harm.*
Dr. Clark recommend you follow these directions carefully.*
-
1 teaspoon (5 ml) bleach, USP (NSF) grade, 5-6% hypochlorite
-
1 pint water (500 ml) from your outside faucet. Remove garden hose first. If this is not NSF quality use rainwater or kosher water (see Sources in Dr. Clark's books).
Dental Bleach is an effective sterilizer for dentures. Recommended for oral surgery.*
Use an HDPE pint bottle. Fill with water. Add bleach (1 teaspoon). Use a plastic teaspoon to measure and mix. The result is 0.05% hypochlorite. This is only a quarter as strong as the 0.2% solution recommended by Bunyan* for oral surgery, but is strong enough for Dental Bleach.*
Hardening Toothbrushes and Other Small Plastic Items
Buy a new toothbrush of the straight-stick variety. Many new styles and brightly colored brushes have come into the market place. They seep large amounts of plasticizer and dyes! They are especially dangerous to children and sick persons. Harden them by placing them in a saucepan and covering with tap water. Heat slowly until steaming. Turn heat off and let stand for 30 minutes, covered. Drain. Wash the brush in fresh water and repeat twice.*
Only the straight-stick kind of toothbrush can be hardened this way. The sculptured kinds with fat portions of plastic cannot be hardened at all. BEWARE!*
First Aid: If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention and drink large quantities of milk, gelatin solution or water. Do not give vinegar or other acids. If in eyes, remove contact lenses and wash for 15 minutes. On skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. Always seek the advice of a medical doctor.
Caution: Do not use this product as a regular mouthwash or as a daily denture soak. This is for use during dental work and for occasional denture cleaning.
